Authors for Freedom: Support Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.)

Child sex trafficking is a rapidly growing industry. No longer are men grabbing teenage runaways--men and women are actively grooming children daily for the sex trade. Children as young as three years old! Not only do organizations snatch children, but parents are selling the services of their children nightly, only to send them to school the next morning. O.U.R. is a non-profit organization run by experts that works with local police and government officials not only to rescue children (and others) from sex rings, but also to bring justice to the perpetrators. These individuals have left their government jobs in order to make a difference. They are completely dependent upon the donations they receive.

Yesterday was World Day Against Human Trafficking. Did you hear about it? Donate to it? Most news outlets didn't cover it. You might have seen it on Facebook or Twitter if you were lucky. If you didn't get the chance, here is another great fundraiser to donate to: Authors for Freedom. 85 authors have joined the O.U.R. team to donate the proceeds of their books today to this amazing organization that fights sexual slavery. Operation Underground Railroad may have only saved 4,000 of the world's 2 million (plus) enslaved children, but each one is grateful for their dedication and their captors are being brought to justice. Consider buying a book (or ten) today in support of your favorite authors and their dedicated fight to end sexual slavery.

Do you want to know more about this organization and what it does?

I rarely pass up a chance to do good by buying books, so I'm combing the website to see which authors I can support with my limited funds. I haven't heard of a lot of them, but I will take the opportunity to buy the books that I love and haven't invested in yet. (Excuse? Of course!) Most authors are donating the proceeds from all of their books, but a few only have one featured book instead, so make sure to check the website before you buy. Books and authors I'm excited to support:

Heather B. Moore is one of the authors donating proceeds from all of her books today. Did you know that's over 100 books!?! I feature the Northbrook series here because I love it so much, but she also writes historical romance, Biblical fiction, murder mysteries (under H.B. Moore), and so much more. Be sure to check out Belltown, Northbrook, Timeless Romance and Regency Anthologies, Loving Her FlingPine Valley, and Ruth (plus her other Biblical titles).

Ashtyn Newbold is a Regency Romance author whose gorgeous covers make me want to read her stories. The only book in the promotion is The Last Eligible Bachelor. Tillie Sherbrooke is a lady who has fallen on hard times and taken a job as a lady's maid in order to provide for herself. When her mistress is sent to win over a perspective groom, Tillie is blackmailed into taking her place. Unfortunately, Tillie happens to catch the gentleman's eye and her ruse becomes more than a fight to keep her position.

Chalon Linton is a (mostly) Regency Romance author who seems to write novels of women put in the impossible position of choosing duty and money or love and happiness. Most of her titles are about $10 on Kindle, but there are a few $5-6 for the budget-conscious. Escape to Everly Manner is the book I'm most excited to read, with Adoring Abigail coming in a close second. You can also find paperback copies of her books at Cedar Fort Publishing (including one priced at only $2), who has built a feature page for all of their authors participating in this fundraiser.

Cedar Fort Publishing has made it convenient to find the authors under their publishing umbrella who are participating in this event. You can find ebooks and paperbacks, Book of Mormon study helps, family picture books, and more! You can get 20% off your order with the code SAVINGS and free shipping on orders over $35 (though the shipping is not egregiously expensive).

For other clean Regency authors I don't have time to highlight individually,
Joanna Barker (LOVE!)
Esther Hatch (LOVE!)
Rebecca Connolly is donating proceeds of What a Spinster Wants (only $2).

Naturally, I'm most excited to support the clean romance authors that I love, but there are plenty of other genres to appeal to everyone. Again, the link to participating authors is here.
