Her Country Gentleman Review

Her Country GentlemanHer Country Gentleman by Sian Ann Bessey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was so excited to finally see this pre-order drop into my Kindle! It's written by three of my favorite authors and I couldn't force myself to wait for the library copy to make its way to me. The stories did not disappoint, though I agree with another reviewer that there sure were a lot of sheep.

Spring at Tribbley Hall by Bessey
A suspenseful tale beginning with matchmaking friends, missing sheep, a heroine who isn't afraid of dirt and livestock, and the master she mistakes for a farm hand. As a friendship grows, so does the danger to the heroine as she gains clues to the fate of the sheep. This was probably my favorite tale of the set for the likable characters, baby sheep, and fun mystery.

Love of My Heart by Eden
Cordelia's family must retreat to Scotland after spending most of their money, but she finds a sympathetic ear in Sebastian of the Home Farm. He may be the unacknowledged heir to the laird, but he's also having difficulty finding his place and dealing with limitations. I really felt Cordelia's frustrations in her ability to communicate with her parents and Sebastian's chafing to receive praise from his grandfather. Probably the most realistic of the three stories.

Miss Smith Goes to Wiltshire by Connolly
Martha's mother exiles her to Wiltshire for not accepting any of the eligible offers she received and her ridiculous dreams of love. Lord Hillier is working his own estate, trying to salvage some part of his meaningless inheritance and is grateful for the interest and friendship offered by Miss Smith. But he's not in a position to marry and her mother would have a fit if she married a nobody. It was an interesting read, but I couldn't believe a mother would send her daughter away without any sort of escort to protect her on the journey! Not even a maid? The beginning was hard to credit, but the relationship between the two protagonists was beautiful and it was easy to see that they could find happiness together.
